Chromecast cannot communicate with Wifi

  1. I have been using 2 Chromecasts for the better part of a year with no issues
  2. On Monday, I tried to reconnect my Chromecast to my home wifi after going on holiday and using it there. I continually get an error message saying "Could not communicate with your Chromecast"
  3. Neither Chromecast will now connect to my home Wifi for some reason.
  4. I rang Virgin who said there were no signal issues

any ideas??

Snatchers2, quick questions: what's the LED light status in your Chromecast? Are there any changes in your Wi-Fi network?

 

Try these steps:

 

  1. Reinstall the Google Home app.
  2. Reboot your Chromecast devices.
  3. Reboot your Wi-Fi router.
  4. Reboot your mobile phone.
  5. Manually connect to the Chromecast SSID. Here's how: Go to the phone’s Settings > Open WiFi and connect to the Chromecast SSID (Example: Chromecast1234, Living Room TV, Bedroom TV, etc.) > Go to the Google Home app and try to set up again.
  6. Use a different mobile phone.
  7. Try to connect to a mobile hotspot. This is to isolate the issue.
  8. Factory reset your Chromecast.

 

tevaab, yes, you can connect one or more Chromecast devices to a Wi-Fi network. You only need to make sure that your Wi-Fi is stable and can support multiple devices.
