Chromecast cannot connect to Wifi

Hi there.

My Chromecast has worked perfectly for about 6 months. Recently I couldn't cast from my Android to the TV (through the Chromecast) like I normally do.

I tried factory resetting the Chromecast, then setting it up through Google Home app. The home app initially finds the Chromecast and it links via the onscreen code etc, but then at the end it says the Chromecast cannot connect to the WiFi. I use my Landlords wifi, so I can't really access the WiFi router, but I don't believe that anything has changed.

I have to factory reset the Chromecast each time I want to try setting it up, because once it goes through the first unsuccessful setup (not connecting to the Wifi) the Google Home app cannot even find the Chromecasg via Bluetooth.

Any help would be appreciated?

Hi Liam3,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. A few questions: what Chromecast device are you using? When did it start? What steps have you taken?

At the moment, it seems that we can’t determine if there are changes with the network (credentials, distance, firmware update, etc.) due to limitations. If you can, try to set it up using another phone or device and connect it to your phone’s mobile hotspot, just to isolate it. Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

Kimy
