Chromecast disconnects

We had a black chromecast for years before issues. It went bad. We bought several of the white ones with remotes on black Friday so did my father. All of them stops casting our shows within an hour. All 6 of them...  not just us my dad as well. it is frustrating. Went through troubleshooting guide. 5 g wireless has more issues than 2 5g. Distance with 2.5 g is irrelevant. Selected android but we used browser with my dad if I remember right. Different amounts of feet away but 1 of the 6 is 3 foot away from router. Anything to help us please?

A few questions: what type of Chromecast with Google TV devices do you have, is it the 4K or HD? Are there any recent changes on your Wi-Fi network? Did the video buffer or pixelate before it stopped casting? If you could also provide a rundown of all the steps that you've already tried, I would appreciate it.

Hey there,

 

Understood. Could you try to factory reset one of your Chromecast with Google TV then observe the behavior? Also, try connecting it to a mobile hotspot so we can isolate the issue.

So you want me to factory rest 1 of 3 not working properly?

2 of them at my house and 1 of them at my father's house. and this resetting of 1 device attached to my 1 tv is going to fix all 3 locations?

Hi Charger1968,

 

Yes, reset one of your 3 Chromecast devices for us to check if this step will resolve the issue. However, please be advised that resetting will not fix all 3 Chromecast devices that are in different locations. If it resolved the issue, then you can manually reset the other Chromecast devices.
