Chromecast frequently locks up and requires rebooting (loses connection to remotes)

Hi all, we've had our Chromecast for a little under a year.  From the start we've had intermittent problems where the Chromecast would "lock up" and not take input from the remotes.  Unplugging/replugging fixes the problem (sometimes the reset button on the CC does, sometimes not).  At first it was every month or so, but it has become much more frequent, at least once a day.  Any thoughts as to steps to take to address this, or do I just need to buy a new unit?  Also, not positive this is 3rd generation-when was the transition or how can I tell what I have?  Thanks.

Hello TnMtnMan,

Thanks for posting to the Chromecast Community and for being a step ahead of us. To cover all the bases, could you please try to plug in the Chromecast into a different HDMI port on your TV? Rebooting your Wi-Fi router and plugging it on a different TV screen, if possible might also help.

Note: If your Chromecast device comes with a Voice Remote, then that is the Chromecast with Google TV. You can check this support website article to see what Chromecast device you have.

Thanks,

Jennifer
