Chromecast lossless FLAC

Hi, I have the Deezer app on my Android phone which streams and downloads in lossless 1411 kbps FLAC music files. If I put a 3rd generation Chromecast or Google Chromecast with Google TV into the back of my Sony AV Receiver (which supports FLAC files) Will I then be able to listen to FLAC file lossless music in my front 2 speakers through my AV Receiver? 

 I am confused because this page:  https://developers.google.com/cast/docs/media  - says under Audio codecs  that "Chromecast Audio, Google Home, and Google Home Mini support FLAC". But it doesn't mention Chromecast, so my assumption by omittance from this list is that Chromecast does not support FLAK?

The other thing that is confusing me is that, as I understand it (the no longer available) Chromecast Audio (which is on the above list) had a built in DAC so I can understand it would need to be compatible with codecs to decode the files.  But if the newer Chromecasts do not have a DAC and pass the signal direct to the AV Receiver (or TV) via HDMI for the AV/TV to decode into analog, then why does the Chromecast need to be codec compatible?

If you could please help as I have found it difficult to get any comprehensive answers from retail outlets, music streaming services or Hi-Fi forums. As you can understand as much as I like hi-fi music I don't want to be paying extra for their premium service that I would not benefit from  by the time it gets to my speakers.

I have the same questions about the newChromecast with Google TV. Can I cast Flac files at 24 bit 92khz to the chromecast plugged into my A/V receiver that has a built in DAC capable of handling this hi res lossless file??

I apologize about the late response on this thread, thank you for being patient! You are correct that Chromecast Audio, Google Home, and Google Home Mini support FLAC, however, after checking with the engineering team, it looks like Chromecast with Google TV does not support FLAC at the moment.
