Chromecast not rewarding properly using voice commands.

For a month or more than now, when I tell my Mini to "Rewind x seconds/minutes" or "Go back x seconds/minutes" on my video, instead it skips to the x second/minute mark.  For example, instead of rewinding 30 seconds, it goes back to the 00:30 mark.  Saying "...by 30 seconds" doesn't help either.  This is another broken voice command that is impacting accessibility for me.  This happens for all video (I tried Disney+ and YouTube) and I see others have had this issue.  Google Chat just says they will record the feedback.

Hi jy12,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. A few questions: what Chromecast device do you have connected to your TV? Is this happening while casting (via voice command using your Google Nest Mini or cast-enabled app)? If you're using Chromecast with Google TV, is it happening while playing the installed apps (not casting)?

I’ve tried using my Chromecast with Google TV. I’ve played installed apps (Netflix, YouTube, etc.), and while playing, I gave the voice commands “Rewind by 20 minutes”, “Fast-forward by 10 minutes”, “Rewind by 50 seconds" and “Fast-forward by 20 seconds,” and it all worked. That’s using the Google Assistant on my Chromecast Voice remote. Similar voice commands: “Hey Google! Rewind by 10 minutes on Kimy’s TV” and “Hey Google! Fast-forward by 10 minutes on Kimy’s TV” worked using my Google Nest Hub.

Give the steps below a try and let me know how it goes:

  • Ensure that all the involved devices are up-to-date (Chromecast device, speaker/display, etc.).
  • Reboot all involved devices (Chromecast device, speaker/display, etc.).
  • Reboot your router.
  • If it persists, try a factory reset for a full clean-up, then set it up from scratch.

Thanks,

Kimy
