Chromecast remote issues

My Chromecast remote has crashed! I recently used my Chromecast in a hotel for a weekend and paired the remote with the tv there for universal remote functions.

Since coming back I had to reset and repair it (which took a while) and then ran a software update. It seemed fine but now it's not even staying powered. I got it paired again and it said it had another update which I ran.

The batteries are fine and I've tried new ones but I have to move them about for the remote and LED on it to come on. Now I can't pair it at all and can't seem to get the batteries and power stable.

My next move will be factory resetting the Chromecast but that's a bit of a pain and it seems to be all in the remote.

Anyone else with anything similar?

Hello DanielJS,

 

Thanks for reaching out and I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with your Chromecast Voice Remote. If you already tried the other possible troubleshooting steps, resetting the Chromecast with Google TV would be the last step. Please try that and let me know how it goes.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I managed to reset it again and then if I didn't perform the available software update it would recognise batteries again fine and I was able to setup remote functions again. I'll wait a while before running the next update.

Thanks for checking in guys. As I mentioned it's been working fine since the last remote reset. I'm just avoiding the software update as it was after attempting that that it seemed to crash the worst.
