Chromecast (ver 2) - Disconnected Device

Hi,
I have a couple Chromecasts (ver 2) and they are connected to my 5G network and i can see that they are online, however when i try to stream from my phone, its showing no available devices and in Google Home it is showing as Disconnected Device (even though they are clearly connected when i turn the TV on).
So far i have:
I have reset them
Removed them from google home and setup again
Rebooted modem
and send 5Ghz channel to a lower channel as suggested as before i did that it was unable to connect to my 5Ghz network.

If i connect to 2.4ghz it works however i dont want to use this for a number of reasons.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Sorry i should say its a ver 3 Chromecast (not 2)

I have the same issue how do we resolve this issue

I reset my modem back to factory and it seems to have resolved it. What i did once reset, i connected my mobile device with Google Home to the actual chromecast wifi and then went through the setup process that way (Google Help advised to do it that way) and it worked. Had to factory reset modem/router

That’s what I’ve been doing for the last couple weeks, resetting modem/router then rebooting chromecast then I uninstall & reinstall google home start all over again, it lasts for the day then next morning I have to re do it all over again

Hi folks,

alosurdo, glad to hear that you're able to get your devcie working again and thanks for sharing your resolution in the community. We appreciate it!

Janeybaybi, I'm sorry to hear that you're still having a connectivity issue with your Chromecast. Let's sort this out.

A few questions: How far is your Chromecast from the Wi-Fi router? Are there any changes to your Wi-Fi network? Do you have a dual band router?

Give these steps a try:

  1. Move your devcie closer to each other.
  2. Reboot your Chromecast, mobile phone, and Wi-Fi router.
  3. If you have a dual band router(Wi-Fi router broadcast 2 networks with different names to indicate the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks), make sure your phone is connected to the same network as your Chromecast.
  4. Use a different mobile phone.
  5. Try to connect to mobile hotspot. This is to isolate the issue.
  6. Factory reset your Chromecast.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

Jennifer
