Chromecast video quality.....

Rich-Maine

Hello,

I am casting from my chromebook to LG TV. I have mesh eero wifi, plenty of bandwidth. I can see very often that the video on the chromebook screen is perfect, yet the TV seems to drop into lower resolution quite often. Happens quite often and I try rebooting chromecast right before use, no real difference.

Anything I can check?

Hi Rich-Maine,

Thanks for reaching out. Let's sort this out.

A few questions: what type of Chromecast device do you have? When did the problem start? How close are the devices to each other?

Try these steps:

  1. Disconnect from Chromecast, then recast.
  2. On your Chromebook, toggle Wi-Fi off and then on
  3. Close any resource intensive apps that are open. (E.g. Email, Google Sheets, Google Docs, etc.).
  4. Turn off power saving mode. Also, plug in the Chromebook directly to a power source.
  5. Check the proximity of the devices. Ideally, they should be less than 15 to 20 feet (4 to 6 meters) apart from each other, with one or zero walls in between.
  6. Make sure your casting device meets the minimum system requirements to support casting.
  7. Make sure that the Google Chrome browser, device OS, and Chromecast software are updated.
  8. Reboot your Chromecast again.
  9. Reboot your Wi-Fi router and Chromebook.
  10. Perform a factory reset on your chromecast.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

Jennifer
