Chromecast won't connect, no matter what I try

Hi all!

I'm having a lot of issues setting up my chromecast after I moved. Before I moved I have never had any problems with it.

First of all the little light doesn't blink but is solid white, even after (multiple) factory resets. My google home app doesn't find my chromecast, not even when I remotely set my wifi to the ssid from my chromecast. I have reset my router, my phone, my television and even reinstalled the google home app and have tried on more then one television to set it up. I'm at my whits end here.. it's a gen 2 chromecast btw. The only screen shown is "download the google home app to start setting up your chromecast" I hope someone here has the solution! Thanks in advance.

Hey there Kyra1,

I'm really sorry to hear that your Chromecast is giving you such a headache. These networking issues can be tricky, so I'd be happy to help out! First, go ahead and follow the steps listed in this article in order, you can go ahead and skip the steps you've already tried. Then, if that doesn't work, let me know If you are able to see the Chromecast from any other device, such as a tablet or computer. That way, we can narrow down the problem a bit more.

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!

Best regards,
Jeran

Hi, thanks for your response.

I have done everything the article says short of the ethernet cable. The light on my chromecast just stays white like it's connected but it isn't. I have kinda given up and bought a new one. Hope this one will work, it's a real pain in the ass atm lol.

Thank you,

Hey there Kyra1,

That's good to hear, I'm glad to hear there were no issues. Did you still want to troubleshoot the old Chromecast, or should I go ahead and lock the thread?

Best regards,
Jeran
