Chromecast won't let me cast from Android.

We're trying to cast from a different device from initial setup using YouTube app. It doesn't seem to load at all. It says "Connecting to ___ TV" but never ends up connecting and it just disappears without any error or pop-ups. Any idea what's going on? Both devices fully updated and restarted multiple times. 

It works on the initial setup device.

A few questions: what is the make and model of the device you're using? What type of Chromecast device do you have? Is this only happening when casting from YouTube app or across all apps?

 

Give these steps a try:

 

  1. Make sure that the Android or iOS device is up-to-date.
  2. Adjust the settings of the setup device. For Android, please turn on location services. For iOS devices, turn on Bluetooth and Local Network Access.
  3. Check the proximity of the TV and the casting device (phone, tablet, or computer), and Wi-Fi router.
  4. Try to cast from a different Chromecast-enabled app.
  5. Reboot the Chromecast, casting device, and router.
  6. Disconnect and reconnect the casting device from the Wi-Fi network.
  7. Check if your mobile device has a power saving setting. If it's enabled, disable it.
  8. Perform a factory reset.
