Closed captioning always on Disney+

Hi, I am having the same issue referenced in a previous post here . I have followed all steps provided and still have had no success.

I also reached out to Disney+ to attempt to resolve this. They confirmed there is nothing specific to their app that would cause closed captioning to appear during every show or movie that is casted to the Chromecast. They said that this would need to be resolved with someone at Google. Any assistance would be appreciated.

I had that problem. Under "Accessibility" on my phone, I had captions turned on. You might have it on the Google home app or your phone.

Just checked the accessibility info on my phone and have closed captions off. I couldn’t find any accessibility setting specific for the Google home app.

They also turn it on based off your location and language. Say you're in Germany, and you're watching English shows. Guess what's on.

If you're using a VPN, that'll get similar location issues.

Also, go to your profile in the Disney+ app. Edit it, and it'll show your language preference.

Preference is English and watching in the US. the language that it defaults to for the closed captions is one of the Asian languages.

Hi folks,

Thanks for the help here, thisisausername.

will33, thanks for reaching out and sorry for the delay. Do you still need help? If yes, could you tell us what Chromecast device are we working on? Have you tried resetting your Chromecast device? Give it a try and let me know how it goes.

Regards,

Juni
