Connection issues

Honestly not sure what generation of Chromecast, but we've had them for a couple years, never had any problems but we just got a new wifi router and switched to fiber optic internet. Now the Chromecast keep disappearing from the Home app, and the cast option disappears from our phones, or it tells us no device found. Have rebooted and factory reset, worked last night and this morning and is not having the same connection issues. Anyone else have this problem or can think of a solution?

Hey there Llashomb,

I apologize about the late response on this thread, thank you for your patience! Were you able to fix those connection issues? If not, I'd be happy to help out, as I know these problems are hard to troubleshoot on your own. Let me just ask you some questions about what's happening:

  • What is the firmware version of the Chromecast?
  • Is the Google Home app up-to-date?
  • Are all devices connected to the same network band?
  • Are you connected to a 2.4GHz band, or a 5GHz band?
  • If you're connected to a 5GHz band, is the Wi-Fi channel set to a lower range? (36-48)
  • What troubleshooting steps have you already tried?

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!

Best regards,
Jeran
