Connection

I've got two chromecasts, one in the bedroom and one in the living room. Recently I changed my network, and after that I haven't been able to connect to the one in my living room. I've had no problems with the other one, that one is a 2nd gen. I can't change the WiFi settings on the one in the living room, since I can't even connect to it.

Can someone please help? I've tried just about everything.

Hey there Sebber,

I'm sorry about the late response, thank you for your patience! Were you able to fix that connection issue? If not, I'd be happy to help out, as I know from experience how tough this issue can be. Let me just ask you some questions about what's happening:

  • When did this issue start happening?
  • Have you already attempted to factory reset the devices?
  • Are you able to forget the network on Google Home, then reconnect?
  • What troubleshooting steps have you already tried?

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!

Best regards,
Jeran

Hi!

I'm so sorry for the late reply. I kinda just gave up on it.

The issue started after we changed our Internet. There was nothing before that. So it's probably cos it's not on the new Internet, but I can't change it.

I've tried resetting to factory settings, but I'm not sure that I've done it correctly. But I can't choose forget the network, I tried that multiple times, but it won't let me. At least not on that chromecast. On the one I've got in my bedroom, I've got absolutely no problems.

No problem at all! If you're willing to give it another try, here are two ways to factory reset your Chromecast to make sure it's done correctly:

From the Google Home app

Note: This option is only available if you still have access to the network your Chromecast was set up on.

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Tap your Chromecast device and then Settings .
  3. At the top right, tap More More menu and then Factory reset and then Factory reset.

From the Chromecast device

While the Chromecast is plugged into the TV, hold down the button on the side of the Chromecast. The LED will begin blinking orange. When the LED light turns white, release the button and the Chromecast will then restart.

Let me know if those options help if you give it a try!

Best regards,

Jeran
