Device not found (cast from windows PC chrome to Android TV)

chrysalis

Hello,

I have a problem casting from my PC to my Android TV.

I used to cast successfully though sometimes it failed. But after I changed my router, I can no longer cast screen to my Android TV. I was told "No devices found".

Also, I tried casting from my iPhone Youtube app to the TV, and it failed with "no devices", too. (it succeeded with TV codes though)

I doubted something is wrong with the router, but after checking settings, I did not find anything strange.

For the TV, I tried removing updates from the chromecast built-in, clearing cache, forcely stopping and restarting, however none of them worked. I keep getting "No devices found" from the PC.

My devices information:

PC: Windows 10, Chrome

Android TV: SHARP AQUOS

Router: TP-LINK AC1200

Hello Jeran,

Sorry for my late response. I forgot to explain that I have tried Google Home App before, and it failed.

Anyway, I tried it once more, and it failed again.

I checked my iPhone and the Android TV, both of them are connected to the same wi-fi (5G), and both of them have bluetooth on. Then I followed the steps in Google Home App. It seems that the app failed to find my TV, and kept making me select the type of my device. Though I tapped Chromecast/Google TV every time, it did not work.

Hi chrysalis,

Thanks for coming back to us. Just an added question: how far are you from your TV when casting? Have you tried a different phone/tablet to cast? What is the cast firmware version of your Android TV?

Cheers,

Muddi

Hello Muddi,

how far are you from your TV when casting?

Around 5 meters in the same room. The distance between router to TV is around 6 meters.

Have you tried a different phone/tablet to cast?

Yes. After my reply to Jeran yesterday, I tried connecting to the TV with an Android phone (via Google Home App), and it also failed (just the same problem with that in my iPhone).

What is the cast firmware version of your Android TV?

Currently it is 1.61.329909. As I mentioned I have uninstalled the updates several times before, so I am not sure what the version was then.

Hey chrysalis,

Thanks for the information. The firmware version of your TV is higher than what I expected. For Android TV, the cast firmware should be at 1.56.292394. Click here for your reference.

Have you tried calling your TV manufacturer to check if they are getting similar reports? Since all your devices are not able to cast to your TV.

Cheers,

Muddi

Hello Muddi,

Thank you for you advice. I tried uninstalling update and the version became to 1.50.228700. I also tried updating the system, then the version became to 1.56.276477. But none of them worked.

Have you tried calling your TV manufacturer to check if they are getting similar reports?

Not yet. I will try contacting them later.

Hi chrysalis ,

Thanks for the update. I suggest that you contact your TV manufacturer first so they can also check the settings on your TV, and make sure that it allows other devices to cast to your TV.

Keep us posted.

Cheers,

Hello Muddi,

I have contacted the manufacturer and now I am waiting for the reply.

Meanwhile I tried change my router to the former one (luckily I have not discarded it yet) and the casting works.

I believe something is wrong with the new router, I will check the settings again.

Thank you for your following.

Hi chrysalis,

Perfect! I'm glad to know that you can cast now to your Android TV. It looks like the issue is within the router settings, so I'll can consider this one resolved, and I will lock the thread shortly unless I can help out with anything else.

Cheers,

Muddi
