Disney+ does not stream on chromecast

So I have a chromecast with Google TV that we use with ethernet connection. The disney+ app will not load, just comes up with an error code. I can however, cast disney+ from my browser on laptop to chromecast and it will continue to stream fine, even once the browser is closed. This is using the same network that the chromecast is connected to. Have reset chromecast a bunch of times and uninstalled and reinstalled disney+ to no avail. Is this an issue with the internet or the chromecast?

Hi lbelle,

Thanks for posting. I'd like to know more about what's happening so we can sort this thing out.

A few questions  — is this only happening with Disney+? What error code are you getting, and are there any messages showing aside from the code? Could you please check the storage if there's still enough space? Sometimes when there's not enough space, you may encounter an error when playing a video. Also, if the issue is only happening with Disney+, please reach out to the app developer for additional help.

Thanks,

Jennifer

Hi Jennifer,

There was 777mb free, I have deleted apps so now 1.4gb free. The same message is still displaying "we're sorry, we're having trouble connecting you to the service. Please check to see that you are still connected to the internet, and try again (error code 42). Yes, it is only the disney app that will not work. Thanks.

Hi lbelle,

Thanks for getting back to us. If the issue is isolated with Disney+, I'd suggest you reach out to the app developer so they can further check this in their end.

Thanks,

Jennifer

Hi,

The issue still hasn't been resolved, I contacted disney+ and none of their troubleshooting worked. It seems to be an issue with using ethernet or our internet provider as when I connect the chromecast to mobile data, it streams disney+ no trouble. Disney+ have passed the info on to their respective team to be resolved, so at this point I think it's a disney issue not a google issue. Thanks for your help.

Cheers,

Lissabelle

Hi lbelle,

I'm sorry for the late response, but thanks for the update. Since the issue has been isolated, do you have other questions and concerns with your Chromecast device?

Thanks,

Jennifer
