Google Chromecast Manufacturer's Warranty

comtel1457
Community Member

Hi there, I am eager to buy Google Chromecast 3 from the retailer, they mention about 1 year manufacturer's that's is Google's warranty.
Now, I came to know from the Google nest community that this product has been discontinued. So my questions are

1)Does this 1 year manufacturer's warranty still exist for chromecast 3 for the specified duration from the date of installation?

2)If yes, what all parameters n conditions will be covered, please specify in 1 year warranty ?

3)And how and whom to contact for warranty fulfillment? kindly specify the contact details.

Thanks and Regards,

Shubha

Hey @comtel1457

Warranty information is here:
Hardware Warranty Center - Product Documentation Help

Google warrants that a new Google Product (including any ancillary parts that may be packaged with it) will be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use in accordance with Google’s published user documentation for one year from the date of original retail purchase in its original packaging by you.

If you ever need to make a claim under the limited warranty, you can do so by contacting the Chromecast support team directly via the link below.

Contact Us - Chromecast Help

Hi @David_K ,

Thanks for the response,it was indeed quick!

Initially I was in loop when I clicked on the help link  but then I found the device verification link in the document ,I think that's where we can claim.

Now my question is ,I will be buying this Google Chromecast generation 3 from retailer called JioMart or Reliance Digital in India wherein they have specified 1 year manufacturer's warranty on their merchant website, how can we ensure that its an Google's authorised retailer in India from where if we purchase the product ,our product will be covered under warranty.

Also, as you have discontinued Chromecast 3 ,so this 1 year warranty will it  be still valid  from Google end  though this product has been discontinued ?

Thanks in advance.

For that I'm not sure, so let me ask a community specialist to chime in here and clarify.

Hi there,

Thanks for escalating this thread, davidking. I'll take it from here.

comtel1457, please be advised that Google cannot process warranty replacements in India. The replacement of the device depends on the store where you purchased it or you may go to your local Rashi Peripherals Service Center to give you detailed information about the warranty replacement of the device.

Also, since this specific Chromecast model has been discontinued, we recommend you purchase a later model when appropriate.

We hope that answered your queries.

Thanks,

Jennifer

Thanks Jennifer,I mean you mentioned it pretty clear ,what's the scenario in India because we were not aware of this ,will get in touch with the right channels .
Thanks again for the  prompt support!
By any chance, is it documented for India,I mean if I select India as a country on warranty claim page they ask me to fill details for device verification so does it approve  claim request if everything okay or guide us clearly to get in touch with Rashi from that page ??any inputs for this particular link? https://support.google.com/googlenest/workflow/12568996

Hey comtel1457,

No biggie! If you'd like to get the warranty of your device, you need to get in touch first to the store you purchased it from. If they decline, you may contact our support team to further assist you. They're the best team to provide you with clear instructions on what to do as other information can't be shared publicly.

Thanks,

Jennifer

I understand Jennifer what you mean to say.But as a customer I always look for warranty and easy service assurance before buying anything. I buy based on the customer care, support after sales n warranty terms.I was relaxed as it's Google but it does not seem to be. First of all, in India they are selling all generations at higher rates though they are older.Your authorised partner Rashi is not that supportive and responsible. They are saying not to buy generation 3 because they can't guarantee replacement or refund ,they don't pick up the calls, if they don't have enough stock then too they are selling it from their own website and not assuring for warranty. They asked me to take latest version but that is also not available with them .So it's not easy and simple, I know I took time for me to decide and I am late here for this purchase but let's see I am exploring other products too but even they have warranty issues, In India ,I think the imported stuff is little difficult as consumer rights are very weak here .

Anyways, Thanks once again for all the support  rendered from time to time and assurance you gave me here as a community member of Google ,made me feel great! Sounds good online but don't know how it will go at ground level

Wishing you a very  Happy New Year in advance ,I hope you had a great Christmas !

Regards,

Shubha

Hello there comtel1457,

We hear you. Rest assured that we'll learn from this to deliver a better process and experience in the future. I'd also suggest you send feedback about this through the Google Home app. Here's how

Let me know if you have other questions and concerns otherwise, I'll be locking this thread after 24 hours.

Best,

Jennifer

Thanks Jennifer for understanding the end customers concerns ,and providing feedback link, after locking the thread also, I can share the feedback right?

I will be taking few minutes of your valuable time for another query,

I am looking out for device like Chromecast which will convert my old led into smart tv ,is there an device from Google which will have this inbuilt Chromecast , mirror feature and it will help me to copy data from and to my mobile device either via connecting to tv or direct connection just like usb hard disk or pendrive so I can copy data from usb  hard disk or drive  to mobile or vice versa .

Thanks again for your patience n time!

Are you suggesting me to purchase Google Chromecast generation 3 with warranty assurance??

Regards,

Shubha

Hi comtel1457,

Yes, you can still file feedback even if the thread is already closed. You only have to use the Google Home app to do it. Also, for your other concerns, all Chromecast device models can make your TV a smart TV. You can mirror your phone screen however, it will not copy the data from your phone.

If you will be purchasing a Chromecast with Google TV device, you can use a USB hard drive to expand your storage but, you can't move data from it to the Chromecast. Check this support website article

If you would like to purchase a Chromecast device, we would recommend getting the later or new versions.

I hope this answered your questions. Let me know if you have other concerns.

Best,

Jennifer

Okay, just wanted to confirm because in the last thread you said our support team will support for claims so just asked for your suggestion for the purchase of  chromecast 3rd generation.

No worries!

Your quick responses and patience are highly appreciated.

Thanks!

Shubha

Hey there,

I understand. As mentioned previously, our support team can further assist you and provide you with additional information that can't be shared publicly. This doesn't mean that they will approve the warranty replacement of the device since the Chromecast 3rd gen has been discontinued. This is also the reason why we recommend you to purchase a later model.

Let me know if you have other questions, if none I'll lock this thread after 24 hours.

Thanks,

Jennifer

Hi Jennifer, thanks for clarification.

Would appreciate if Google could curb the practices of its channel partners and retailers in India of selling these discontinued products with a clear mention of manufacturing warranty of 1 year ,even Rashi has been doing so , this is not recommended if there is no such warranty. People today have become so addicted to rapid changes in technology that they don't even bother of money or warranty so these retailers have been happily doing this and there is no organised customer cell here.

Thanku again for all the responses and support!
