Google Photo casting issue

Tbarba22

Hello,

I have a philips oled android tv (55oled706) with a built in chromecast. I can cast all my apps from my android phone but I can't cast Google photo app. I have a black screen or sometimes I can cast (the icône is visible on Google photo) but the cast stops immediately after 1 sec and the cast icon disappears from the screen.

I have the issue whether the TV is connected to the same network via wifi Or rj45 cable.

Anyone has a similar issue? My wife has the same issue with her android phone so it looks like the issues is linked to the tv/os/network.

No issue with a laptop for information.

Thanks for your help.

Hey there Tbarba22,

I apologize about the late response on this thread, thank you for being patient! Were you able to fix that casting issue? If not, I'd be happy to help out, as I'm sure this issue is pretty confusing. Let me just ask you some questions about what's happening:

  • When did this issue start happening?
  • Does this issue occur with any other apps?
  • Is your Google Home app up-to-date?
  • Have you tried clearing Google's Photo's cached data?
  • What troubleshooting steps have you already tried?

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!

Best regards,
Jeran

Hello Jeran,

Thanks for your feedback.

The issue has happened few days after having casted from my phone on the android TV.  First times casting photos from google photo app from my phone was OK and then it did not work anymore.
This is not happening with other apps

I have the google home app that seems up to date versions 2.52.1.6
I have trie clearing the cache data of the google photo app but it is not working
I have tried to connect my tv with WIFI instead of cable (same network) no result, same issue. I have reinstall google home. I have checked the TV android version and check for updates.
I have restarted the android OS of the TV. The cast works maybe 3 times from my phone and then not anymore. My wife tried too and the cas of the photo works bu when you want to see the next picture the cast is like freezed.

Hey there Tbarba22,

Thank you for your response on this! This is a strange interaction with your built-in Chromecast. Built-in Chromecast is an open source software that Philips put into the TV. You've attempted the steps I would have recommended to you already. What I would recommend is that you reach out to Philips Support, since they may have an issue with their built-in Chromecast.

I'm sorry I couldn't have been more helpful on this, but if you had any other questions or concerns, please let me know.

Best regards,

Jeran

Hi folks,

Thanks for the help here, Jeran.

Tbarba22, the Google Home App 2.53 update started rolling out so you will be getting it in the next few days. You may check if this fixed the issue. Also, you may reach out to your TV manufacturer as per advised by Jeran to ask for additional help.

Thanks,

Jennifer

Hello Jennifer, Jeran,

Thank you for your replies.
I will check for update and test again. Then if the issue is still present I will contact Philips directly to report this bug.

Best regards,

Thomas

For now I don't have any other question. I still have issues, I am now investigating if the issue can be linked to our XIAOMI android smartphones (my wife and I) as the issue does not appear on a ASUS smartphone.

Hiya Tbarba22,

That may be worth bringing up to Philips Support, as they may be able to either track down the issue, or provide a work-around that would resolve the issue. For now, I'll go ahead and lock this thread. If you run into any more issues, or have any other questions, please feel free to create a new thread.

Thank you for your help on this, Jennifer!

Best regards,

Jeran
