I'm having a horrible issue with the newest ChromeCast 4k. I have tried to close the apps each time I use one and go on to another. I have tried updating the firmware. I have tried restarting the device. I have tried checking my wifi, which is extremely fast to where this device shouldn't have an issue. I have changed the resolution in the setting. No matter what I do to this device every video on any streaming service is so laggy, slow, and shuttered that it makes me sick to watch because it gives me motion sickness. I have talked to Google to send me a new one to see if it's just my device but they have refused to help me get a new one or help fix the issue. This streaming device is at the lowest of the low for me. I don't recommend anyone buy this product.

Hello folks,
I understand your frustration with the laggy videos on your Chromecast 4k. It's definitely not ideal, especially after troubleshooting and contacting Google support. Here are some additional steps you can try to fix the issue:
Network Optimization:
5Ghz Wi-Fi: Ensure your Chromecast is connected to the 5Ghz band of your Wi-Fi router. 5Ghz offers a faster and more stable connection compared to 2.4Ghz, which might be better suited for streaming 4k content. Most routers broadcast both bands under the same SSID name, so you might need to check your router settings or manually select the 5Ghz band on your Chromecast.
Minimize Network Congestion: Reduce other devices using your Wi-Fi network while streaming. Large downloads or other bandwidth-intensive activities can slow down your connection. Consider pausing downloads or using Ethernet connections for other devices.
Wi-Fi Positioning: Try moving your Chromecast closer to your Wi-Fi router to improve signal strength. Physical obstructions like walls or furniture can also weaken the signal.
Chromecast Settings:
Quality Settings: Within the Chromecast or streaming service app settings, you might find options to adjust video quality. Try lowering the streaming resolution from 4k to 1080p to see if it reduces lag.
Factory Reset: As a last resort, consider performing a factory reset on your Chromecast. This will erase all settings and data. Consult the Chromecast user guide for specific reset instructions.
Alternative Solutions:
Wired Ethernet: If possible, consider connecting your Chromecast directly to your router using an Ethernet cable. This can provide a more stable and reliable connection compared to Wi-Fi.
Different Streaming Device: If the issue persists after trying all the troubleshooting steps, you might have to consider using a different streaming device. Some users report better experiences with other brands, although it depends on your specific needs and preferences.

By trying these additional steps, you might be able to resolve the lag issue with your Chromecast. If none of these solutions work, then contacting Google support again and explaining the troubleshooting steps you've already taken might be helpful.
Best,
Brandon.
