Identifying Chromecast HD & 4K units

DATAMAN
Community Member

I have Chromecast HD & 4K units.   My unsmart TV only supports 1080P resolution.

Since the dongles look identical, is there a way to tell through the System Info, etc. which is which?   We moved and the units got mixed together.

Hi @DATAMAN

From my understanding, the HD is only available in white, but it's visually identical to the white version of the 4K model. So the only way to know the changes is to go into the settings and check if it is able to put out 4K. 🤔

Are you in the United States?  The back of my snow (white) 4K one bears the letters GZRNL near the top of the back.  It's part of the FCC registration number.  I hope that helps you.
