Hi! New here. I’m wondering if there is a voice command to open the nbc app and play nbc live? I’d like to use the voice command to set up a routine to turn on the today show in the mornings. Anyone have luck with this?

It is a command. Just use the voice assistant on your remote control and say "Open NBC".

Thanks for replying. I know how to open the app, but I’d like one additional step of watching live in the app. Similar to how you might say “watch [show] in NBC” instead of a show, I want it to play live. Right now any mention of the word live takes me to sling tv - even if I specify NBC

If you manually open the NBC application, does it start playing automatically or do you have to select a certain command from its menu?
Have you tried saying: "Whatch NBC News Now"?
Now, if you are talking about the NBC application with various available shows, I don't think it's possible to directly open a certain show in the application with your voice, because the show must be selected.

It doesn’t play automatically. There’s a horizontal menu on top. Home | Shows & Movies | Live | Networks etc. I’d like to open NBC and watch live. But any word “live” opens YouTube

Hey there MattKeo,
I apologize about the late response on this. I downloaded the NBC app to try to figure out what commands to use to play Live. However, I was met with the same results that you had. It may be something that Google may need to implement into the assistant's functionality. Would you be able to submit feedback via Google TV to let Google know this is something you'd like to see?
I'm sorry I couldn't respond with a real solution, but if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!
Best regards,
Jeran

Hey @MattKeo why would you need to launch the app to watch live TV if you have a subscription to live TV? Are you a subscriber to YouTubeTV or some other live television service? If so, simply say Hey Google watch the Today show on NBC on YouTubeTV or Hulu and it should go grab the live broadcast. You don't even need a routine for that -- if you did what's outlined above is what you'd add to the routine as well as your launch phrase.
A network app isn't always necessary. The best you can get with CCwGTV is a launch of a standalone app (you'll still need to pick and choose what you watch). Calls for a specific program generally have to be from a live service or a streaming app that allows you to link your account within the Home app. Tubi and Pluto for example may be the exceptions as are some radio streaming services but neither work consistently, at least not for me. For example, I have Live TV and the ESPN app. I can say hey Google watch ESPN or Monday night football on Youtube TV -- it appears. If I ask it to watch in the ESPN app, I get nothing or the app simply opens and waits for me to choose what I want to watch.
