Ok, this has been answered before here.. but the resolution doesn't work because there is no Android TV remote control app anymore. I think Google decommissioned it.
Anyway, problem is as described in the subject line - remote has solid led light on and doesn't connect to the Google TV. I can't use the remote app (I don't have other remotes) to "Forget" the accessory from settings.
What do I do?
Thanks in advance

Hi Mil,
You should be able to use the Google TV app.

Hi Mil.
Just solved it.
I have to admit that I was wrong to assume that google tv remote was available only in US. But the installation isn't that straightforward either. I got directed by a user in another forum to this link here which describes the steps to get the TV remote installed on ur phone, here:
After that its just re-pairing the remote to the device. Do let me know if it works for u too.
Cheers,
Nikesh.

Thanks for the response David, but can't use the app though for it mate. The remote button doesn't appear on the app. What am I doing wrong?
Remember I need the remote to go to Chromecast settings to unfair and pair my remote again. Not to flick through Movies or pause/play them.

So you're not seeing the remote option at the bottom right of the app? Are you using the latest version of the app? Is your phone connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your TV?

Hi David, yes same network... I think it's the latest app. Version 4.28.48[AU]

Sorry, yes, and no remote option.

Hi Mil, I have the exact problem and been scratching my head for the past week or so. Have you somehow figured it out?
Did a bit of digging and seems the Google TV app is available only in US at the moment. I'm in Germany and I'm assuming we have the same issue.
One work-around that should work theoretically is to use a mouse and keyboard via a Y-split or an adapter to control the Chromecast google tv and navigate to the settings to re-pair the remote. See if u have able to take that road and let me know if it works.
I'm looking for an easier solution, as it requires that I buy one of those adapters and I really don't want that. Plz let me know if I've somehow figured out another solution.
Appreciate it. Thanks!
🙏

No Nikesh..I wish I had a solution..thanks for your workaround but surely there has to be a better way! Waiting on Google to provide a solution, but looks like @David_K has put me on ignore.
A bit wrong of Google to sell the devices outside of the US, remove a perfectly working Android TV app, release an app that only properly works in the US, and expect us to suck it up and live with it until enough people complain about it for them to do something for the rest of the world.. I'm thinking about returning the device now. What a waste!

Just tried that @David_K . No luck.
There is no remote icon in the app. Nowhere! I've sent the screenshot above.
It appears as though my app has now updated to 4.28.50 [AU] [AU]
To get this info out of the way too, none of the apps have been sideloaded or used VPN to install. It's a brand new Samsung Galaxy 21+.
There has to be a way! There has to be many others who have complained about this!

Mil, the remote icon doesn't appear in the app. It is automatically added to the drop down menu of your phone (one where you have wifi, mobile data, Bluetooth tiles etc) as a tile once the google movies app is installed. Press that tile and u'll be directed to the remote app.

@Nikesh thank you for clarifying and for your reply earlier- just realised I didn't thanky you!
I don't know how I misread that it's in the app.. I can now see the tv remote from the drag-down ... Actually it didn't appear straight away.. had to go to "add more" to add but it's here now. Will try the un-pairing ND re-pairing now.
Many thanks again @Nikesh .
Love from Australia

@Mil I'm just happy that we figured it out. Hope our comments will be of some help to anyone encountering the same issue in the future.
Cheers mate.
