New Interface updated... then reverted back?

My Google TV interface was updated this past weekend for a brief moment, then reverted back. I was able to use the new interface (which is marvelous!) until I restarted my device and everything reverted back. I checked for updates but was told all updates were applied. I even factory reset the device to see if I could get the update applied again, and the same thing happened; it updated but eventually reverted back.

Well after trying a lot of different things, I seemed to have figured this out! I specifically cleared out some system App data and cache that finally allowed the new interface to show through

Settings --> Apps --> See all Apps --> Show System Apps

I cleared the cache from 1) Google TV, 2) Google, and 3) System UI, restarting after each.

  1. After restart, Movies and Shows moved to the new location for categories along with Family and Español
  2. After restart, nothing else improved (including it just in case it did something in prep for the next)
  3. After restart, the Search and Profile reposition to their new places.

Hope this helps!

The exact same thing happened to me this weekend. I hope someone could tell us what's going on!

Thanks for doing/sharing all your research. Following your story, I simply cleared the cache on the three things you said - one after the other and then hit system/restart once and I have the new menu organization on the homepage. Yay! So I don't know which of the three cache repositories was the key or if it had to be all of them, but I hope this helps others.

Hey there zipfhaus,

I'm just checking up on this thread, and I'm glad to see that you were able to figure out this new interface issue! In that case, do you have any more questions or need any additional help with anything? If not, I'll go ahead and lock this thread in 24 hours.

Best regards,
Jeran
