No Sound

I cannot get sound from my Chromecast Ultra anymore.  I have tried connecting both directly with my TV HDMI and indirectly through my sound system.  I have also tried several HDMI ports both ways.  I have done a factory reset.  Before I moved towns my device worked well.  Everything else about my system works well.  I have followed all the help instructions to no avail.

 

Is there anything I can do?

Have you tried a different HDMI cable?

If that doesn't work try a different tv?

This sounds obvious but did you check the tv isn't on mute etc?

Smallboy, have you tried the suggested steps shared by Jch12? If yes, how was it? If you're still having trouble, please try the additional steps below:

 

  1. Use a different HDMI device on the same HDMI input and check if audio works.
  2. Reboot your Chromecast. 
  3. Check if the no audio issue occurs from all apps or only when casting certain websites.

  • I tried all the steps to no avail. I have tried resetting the ultra plus. I have tried routing it several different ways and devices and hdmi ports. It is always the same. I have given up and bought a new device with GoogleTV. It works well, and of course, does more, so I am pleased with that outcome. I will however try my old Ultra Plus at my daughter’s home and see if that makes any difference. Thanks for you help. Sorry for taking so long to reply.
