Only 1 Audio channel (left) when plugging Chromecast Ultra into Sony Bravia smart TV

I have been using Chromecast 4k for a year now. It's plugged into my Sony Bravia smart TV. It's been running great but a couple of months ago I have noticed an audio problem.

First of all my TV works just fine (the UI is laggy so I plugged in the Chromecast). I have tested the TV's youtube/netflix/ external video/audio sources via hdmi and it's all ok.

However, a couple of months ago I have noticed problems only with the Chromecast YT app - 1 audio channel. Netflix works fine. I have also noticed the same problem on Amazon Fire 4k when using YT.

That very same chromecast works fine on other monitors / TVs. I'm running out of ideas of how to solve it.

Hey there AronAtNest,

It's strange that only the YouTube app is exhibiting this behavior. Go ahead and follow these steps to see if they help with this issue:

  • Make sure the Google Home and YouTube app are up-to-date.
  • Clear out the cached app data on both the Google Home and YouTube app.
  • Try connecting the Chromecast Ultra to a different HDMI port on the TV.
  • Try using a different HDMI cable.

If those steps don't help, try changing the Chromecast Ultra's sound settings around to see if they are affecting the sound at all. Go ahead and go into the YouTube app as well to change the sound settings.

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know.

Best regards,
Jeran
