Stops casting after an hour

  • Multiple issues casting from Hulu and casting from other websites across several devices. Rebooted router, factory reset on Chromecast and it still happens. Hulu app at least plays for a little over an hour before it stops casting. Other websites it won't cast at all. It will play about 5sec then stops

Thanks for reaching out to the Chromecast Community forum! Let's sort this out.

 

A few questions: what type of Chromecast device do you have? When did the issue start? What mobile phone are you using for casting? 

 

Give these steps a try:

 

  1. Reboot your Chromecast and mobile phone.
  2. Make sure you're casting from a Chrome browser and it's up-to-date.
  3. Make sure you're casting from a Chromecast-enabled website. 
  4. Reinstall the Hulu app.
  5. Cast from a different device (Example: mobile phone, tablet, or computer).
  6. Disable and re-enable Automatic date and time and Automatic time zone.
  7. Turn off any power or battery saving mode.

Oh no! Could you connect it to a mobile hotspot and try casting content from any Chromecast-enabled apps? Keep me posted.

No it's not working. After multiple times trying to cast (more than 10) it will sometimes connect. But if that session ends I can start a new one. And often times it will stop casting part way thru. I've even set up a new network on my gateway router thinking that could be the issue but nothing changed. I appreciate the recommendations and follow-up. Sorry if this is a duplicate, site crashed earlier.

No I did not. The issue is with one particular adult themed site. I've just starting using a different site that allows casting without an issue. Pornhub is the site when used thru Chromecast doesn't work as intended. And it occurs across several devices - old devices, my newest pixel and Chromebook.
