USB stick disconnected after every restart, deplug-replug is needed.

Hello,
I'm using my CCwGT with Baseus Mechanical Eye 6 in 1.
I have no issues with Ethernet and USB keyboard connected to it.
But it started to not to recognize external USB drive time to time until it failed to be accessed ever again.
So i switched to "SanDisk Ultra 64GB Dual Drive Luxe Type-C 150MB/s USB 3.1 Gen 1".
But now it never recognise it after each restart. I have to replug it, then it works like a charm.
Do you have any suggestions to avoid this issue ?

Hey there cetincelik,

Welcome to the Chromecast Community Forum! I can imagine this issue is pretty confusing to troubleshoot, so I'd be happy to help out. While I don't have any personal experience with your current setup, I can imagine there is an HDMI handshake issue occurring. Looking at the requirements for Chromecast, all Chromecast devices require a TV with High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) 1.3 or higher built-in. HDCP 2.2 is required to support 4K content. Most televisions that are five years old or newer and have HDMI ports will have at least one port that supports HDCP 2.2. I would double-check to see if the device is able to complete that handshake.

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!

Best regards,
Jeran

Hello,

Thank you for your reply @Jeran 🙂

Maybe I couldn't manage to explain my issue.

I tried to record a video to demonstrate it :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lop4KHfEfFA

Sorry for the quality of the video. After every restart of CCwGT , even though the USB stick is connected, it was not connected. I have to deplug and then replug everytime to make it be connected and reach the content inside.

It wasn't issue last year, it started this year i guess.

Best regards,

Erol.

I have other devices connected to USB hub as well, such as a keyboard and a remote mouse, they are working with no issues at all.

Hi cetincelik,

Thanks for sharing a video of the issue. Could you please try to plug in the Chromecast into a different HDMI port on your TV and check if the same issue will persist? Also, try to reboot your Chromecast and connect your storage device again. If the same issue persists, reset your Chromecast and try again.

Thanks,

Jennifer
