Wi-Fi network not listed in the Chromecast set up

Friends, trying to set up the Chromecast. Connected to the Chromecast Wifi on my iOS device. The device was able to scan and identify the chromecast's 4 digit code. On the next step when we need to select the WiFi network to be used for chromecast, my Wifi network is not showing up in the list of networks it displays. What could be the issue?

Thanks Jennifer for taking time to help me out. Did some searching and found that the issue was because the wireless network of the router WPA Version was set to WAP/WAP2. I changed it to WAP. Then the Wi-Fi network showed up in Chromecast set up.

Thanks,

Pradeep

Hello pradeepkumarj,

Thanks for reaching out. Let's sort this out.

A few questions: what type of Chromecast device do you have? What's the make and model of your mobile device? How far is your Chromecast from the Wi-Fi router?

Give these steps a try:

  1. Make sure the Chromecast device is on the same Wi-Fi network as your phone or tablet.
  2. Make sure the Chromecast device is within 15 to 20 feet of the setup device and the Wi-Fi router.
  3. Connect other devices to the Wi-Fi network.
  4. Connect to a Wi-Fi hotspot. This is to isolate the issue.
  5. Check if the router has a hidden network name or SSID. If the SSID is hidden and not broadcasted, you will need to manually input the network's name and password.
  6. Force close the Google Home app.
  7. Uninstall and reinstall the Google Home app.
  8. Reboot your Chromecast.
  9. Reboot your router and mobile phone.
  10. Use a different wireless device (phone or tablet) to set up the Chromecast device.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

Jennifer
