YouTube on Android is consistantly crashing when cast to any device.

I am having unresolved issues casting the YouTube app to any of my devices. The issue started a few months ago. I start casting and almost exactly 3 minutes into a video there is an error message on my phone screen and Chromecast just goes back to the home screen. This is happening on my Chromecast Gen 2, Chromecast with Google TV and Nest Hub. This makes it impossible to watch any videos on YouTube via Chromecast. This issue does not effect any other streaming apps like Netflix.

Hey there SaltyStu,

I am sorry about the late response, thank you for being patient! Were you able to fix that crashing issue? If not, I'd be happy to help out, as I know I would be pretty frustrated if that kept happening. Let me just ask you some questions about what's happening:

  • When did this issue start happening?
  • Have you tried clearing out the cached data on the YouTube app?
  • What does the error message say?
  • Does this occur when casting YouTube from another device, such as a computer or tablet?
  • What troubleshooting steps have you already tried?

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!

Best regards,
Jeran
