Hi everyone,

Thanks for posting in the community!

I'm so sorry to hear that your content stops casting when you turn off the casting device. No worries; I'm here to help! Just to get started, I have a couple of questions that will help me understand what could be causing this situation. Can you please help me answer them?

  • What model of Chromecast do you have?
  • Before it stopped casting, did the video buffer or pixelate?
  • Does it occur when casting from an app or when casting from the screen?
  • Is the video playing problem-free on the device when not casting?
  • Have you tried to cast from another device (tablet, laptop, computer, etc.) and see if this situation persists?

With this information, I'll be able to provide you with some useful troubleshooting steps. If you have more questions for me, feel free to reply to this post. I'll be happy to assist further!

Best regards,

Nery.

I have the same problem. I am on a Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro, also on HyperOS. Maybe this is an isssue with HyperOS? This started just a few days ago randomly.

Chromecast Ultra

No buffering or anything, just a normal disconnect like if you would tap disconnect on the phone.

It is casting from the YouTube app that doesnt work.

Without Casting to Chromecast there is no problem at all watching the video.

The casting problem is exclusively on my phone.

  • All battery optimization options are turned off and this seems like a bigger problem with the OS or the App

I have exactly the same issue on my Poco F6 PRO, when you kill (Force Kill) the Youtube app while casting it wont interupt the tv stream, this is kinda my workaround at the moment.

Do you have MiUI or HyperOS? That sounds super interesting, so it seems that the phone sends a "end casting" command after some time in standby that you can impede by force stopping the app before it sends this command for whatever reason

I have HyperOS, when i lock my screen approximately 2 minutes after locking the cast disconnects. I tried uninstalling all updates for the YouTube APP this somewhat mitigates the issue, the Cast won’t be ended but there is a notification on the TV stating that the mobile device is disconnected. (Weird behavior).

Tweaking Battery does not seem to affect this.

Okay, this has to be a Problem with HyperOS. Almost all cases with problems are on HyperOS. So we need to wait for Xiaomi and probably not so much for Google to fix this

Might need to bring it to their attention? 😄

How? 😄

Actually no idea. 😆

but you are saying that force closing the app fixes it for now until it is fixed? I am now resorting to Display always on when charging 😭

I basically just start casting a video and then kill the YouTube app and it won't stop playing on TV. 😆

I have submitted a ticket to Poco along with a link to this thread. Hopefully the issue is resolved soon.

thank you

I have Chromecast 3 and 4, the video was loading normally when it was disconnected, it happened when I stream via the YouTube app, the video plays normally in the background when it is not streaming, because I have YouTube Premium.

I think the problem may be in HyperOS

What model of Chromecast do you have? Chromecast ultra

Before it stopped casting, did the video buffer or pixelate? No buffer or pixelation, Just disconnects

Does it occur when casting from an app or when casting from the screen? From youtube app and membership type is premium

Is the video playing problem-free on the device when not casting? when i keep the phone screen on it is problem free

Have you tried to cast from another device (tablet, laptop, computer, etc.) and see if this situation persists? with my computer and old phone (huawei p10 plus) there is no problem

Hi everyone,

Thanks for all your comments!

I understand how frustrating this can be when you try to cast your content to your Chromecast, but it stops unexpectedly. Don't worry. Our team is aware of this and working hard with our partners to try to resolve this situation as soon as possible.

When I get an update from my team, I'll let you know. In the meantime, if you have more questions for me, feel free to reply to this post. I'll be happy to assist further!

Best regards,

I decided to test using the same cell phone with hyperOS connecting YouTube directly to the smart TV and the connection did not drop, the problem is only with the connection via Chromecast.

Hi there!

I have the same issue. After the last update, everytime I tried to cast any app to Chromecast (Netflix, Disney+, Twitch, YouTube, etc) after like 5 minutes, it suddenly disconnected.

Well, I fixed this for every app EXCEPT YouTube. If you go to your App Settings > Manage apps> Background autostart and you turn on the apps you want to cast, it won't disconnect anymore. As I said before, this works for every app except YouTube, cause it doesn't appear in the app's list (and I don't know where to change these settings).

I hope this helps, and if someone finds out how to change YouTube settings, please let me know!

Same issue on Samsung A13, very strange, from within the Google TV app, as soon as you lock the screen or go to another app on the phone it stops casting immediately and disconnects, what is this problem? Never seen it before now.

Same problem but it wasn't there before

Seems that my issues disappeared with the latest update of the Youtube app?

Can you tell me please your YouTube version? I have the problem with 19.32.38 and no update available.

Or what is you hyperos version? I try to upgrade it to 1.0.4.0

Hello,

Same problem since some weeks, I have:

  • Phone: redmi note 12 pro
  • OS:  hyperos 1.0.3.0.
  • Youtube: 19.32.38

Basically this is what produce the problem:

  • Start casting youtube video to TV (Chromecast)
  • Lock your phone
  • 1 minute after it stop playing

After unlock, the communication with the Chromecast is lost in youtube app and it says: impossible to read this content in background.

I don't know where this problem is (YouTube or Xiaomi) but it really sucks!

Please find a solution ASAP
