itvX casting icon suddenly vanished

Hi folks,

 

Until recently (about 10 days ago) I was casting itvX programmes to my Chromecast with no problem at all. I am using an Amazon Fire HD8+ tablet with Android capabilities side loaded. Suddenly, last week the casting icon was no longer there. So, I uninstalled, re-installed, re-started the tablet, cleared app cache. No icon. I reset the Chromecast, still no icon. I asked my sister, who has the same 2nd generation Google Chromecast, and she has the same issue. 

I contacted itvX help, and was told that 'the tech team are aware of an issue', and was told to carry out the things I had already done. 

Several days, later I still cannot cast it, and when I contact itvX help form I get no reply at all. It's SO frustrating.

 

I even tried mirroring my screen to the Chromecast, but all I get is a black screen with the play, pause, etc. icons, and no programme, which continues to play on the tablet screen, instead.😒

 

Can anyone help ? Are you experiencing the same problem ?

Hi @Eurisko 

I am afraid there is not much we can do as the problem is within the itvX app.
They have to fix the issue. 🙄

Thank you.😊 The only issue I am having with my Chromecast at the moment is the inability to cast itvX to my telly, which is vexing. I am praying that the issue might resolve the next time Amazon update my OS....🙏

Fingers crossed an update to ITVX will help resolve the issue! If you have the time, it may be worth reaching out to ITVX support to see if they are aware of any issues on their end.

Shoot, I am sorry to hear that... Perhaps they would have an online chat system, or perhaps a phone number. Regardless, let us know if you have any more questions. Otherwise, we can go ahead and lock this thread, since there isn't much Google can do here.

there is supposed to be a 'live chat' option, but it seems to be never available. It feels like itvX don't want to help their viewers at all.🤷🏻‍♂️

Posting a response on this old topic to help others as I had the same issue for days on end !

If you have an iPhone go to settings > ITVX > local network > ensure this is switched on. 

It seems any time you update ITVX it turns this setting off!

Turns out it wasn’t an app or chromecast device issue all along !!!

ISadly I don't have an iPhone.🙂 

I am experiencing the same issue and have just checked Local Network which is on. So this hasn’t resolved it for me. 

The only thing that seems to work, but not for long, is uninstalling and reinstalling the app.

Im pretty sure it is an app problem.
