playing music from YouTube music crashes speaker groups with chromecast with TV in

Hi have several google home devices downstairs;
2 nest hubs, 1 audio, and a Chromecast with Google TV (4K), I would like to have them all in a single speaker group so I can play my music through all speakers and my TV sound system, however anytime i include the chromecast with google TV into the speaker group, and try to play music using voice commands or casting from the YouTube music App it crashes and the chromecast just shows the YT logo, and the displays just show a cast logo.
Chromecast versions:

  • ChromeCast W/ G TV: 1.61.304433
  • Nest Audio: 1.56.2999498
  • Nest hub (K): 1.62.312297
  • Nest Hub (LR): 1.62.312297

Thanks Everyone

(secondary question: will I ever be able to use my nest devices as speakers for my Chromecast with TV, would be good if i could have the audio play through the current devices as well as just the TV?)

Same issue. Other cast apps work fine.

Hey there Xzenner,

I apologize for the late response, thank you for being patient! This is currently an issue that the Chromecast engineering team is aware of and is looking into. First, I would make sure your Chromecast is up-to-date on its firmware. Then, if you could, please re-create the issue and submit feedback via the Google Home app with logs enabled. That way, the error logs that are generated are sent to the engineering team to help them out.

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!

Best regards,
Jeran

Hi I did the update, in fact tried to update all my devices, I removed all from home network and set-up as new. Even uninstalled and reinstalled the Google home app on my phone.

Updated all the apps on the Chromecast, did a reboot for luck and after nearly an hour doing all this, it actually played. Satisfied I'd done a good job I turned off after one song and finally went to bed... However the issue was right back the next day... I have done reboots and it still hasn't worked... I've sent feedback, but I've not received any email to confirm that the tickets has been received, just the thank you when submitted.

Anyway I really hope this is fixed, as the Chromecast built into my poll audio soundbar seems to have become unsupported and won't connect, so the Chromecast with Google TV is the only way to get my sound system working again.

Hey there Xzenner,

I'm really sorry about the late response on this thread, I appreciate you submitting feedback on this issue. If you got the "thank you" from the Google Home app when you submitted feedback, you should be good to go. In the meantime, do you have any more questions or need any additional help?

Best regards,
Jeran

Hey there TacoThunder,

No problem, I'll keep the thread open. Did you have a chance to submit feedback so the Chromecast Engineering team has more data to work with? There's no problem at all if you don't, but every bit helps.

Best regards,

Jeran

I have the same issue.. But more importantly even when I don't have the chromecast in the group I still can't really choose the song playing through the home app. I can skip forward and back but not just choose. I use YouTube music so you'd think the apps should just be fully integrated.
