restarting about once a week, it is annoying

my chromecast restarts about once a week, at random, so I can be watching something, then the black screen comes, and then I see restarting, right in the middle what I am watching, it is really annoying

I apologize about the late response, thank you for being patient! Were you able to fix that restarting issue? If not, I'd be happy to help out, as I know this issue would annoy me as well. Let me just ask you some questions about what's happening:

  • When did this issue start happening?
  • What is the firmware version of your Chromecast?
  • Do you have any routines set up in Google Home?
  • What type of TV are you using?
  • Does your TV have any power saving settings enabled?
  • Does this issue occur when using another TV?
  • What troubleshooting steps have you already tried?

not sure when it started, but I have had this cromecaste for about 2 years, do not know when it started but now it happens about once a week, do not know what firmware it is, no routines setup I have a Sony internet enable TV, no other TVs, I just unplugged it from my TV and replugged it in

Hey jjrilr,

 

I'm sorry about the slow response time, thank you for your patience! On your Sony TV, do you have any kind of Eco mode or Power saving setting enabled? It is a possibility that there may be a TV setting that may be resetting the Chromecast device. To be double-sure, are you able to try using the Chromecast on another TV to see if the problem persists? 

 

Also, when this issue occurs, pay attention to the LED light on the Chromecast itself and see if it turns any color other than solid white, as that may also point to where the issue lies.
