some computers see the chromecast some don't

we have 6 chromecast devices on our network in different rooms. All chromecasts are connected to the same network. all our computers are running windows 10 pro. some wired and wireless computers can see all 6 devices. some computers can't see any devices when trying to cast from chrome. I can ping the Chromecast devices from the computers that don't see them in the cast list and they respond. all computers are on the same network. not sure what is causing it.

Hey there mtmitguy,

I apologize for the late response, and thank you for being patient! Were you able to fix that casting issue? If not, I'd be happy to help out. In this case, I would follow the steps in this post by davidking. Feel free to skip Step 2, as those steps deal with setting up the Chromecast. Let me know if you run into any issues with any of the steps.

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!

Best regards,
Jeran

None of that helps. I loaded a free app from the Microsoft store called AV Cast. on the same laptop that does not see any of the 6 Chromecast in Chrome, when I run AV Cast it sees all the Chromecasts. This eliminates a lot and points to something in Chrome. if it was the Chromecast other computers wouldn't see it. If it was a laptop manufacturer issue the identical laptop wouldn't see the Chromecast, but it does. if it were a wifi issue AV Cast wouldn't see it.

Hiya mtmitguy,

It is strange that Google Chrome cannot see those Chromecasts. Go ahead and give these steps a try on the computers that are having issues:

  1. Clear the cache and cookies for Chrome. To do this, go to Chrome Menu > More Tools > Clear browsing data.
  2. Disable any extensions that you don't need. To do this, go to Chrome Menu > More Tools > Extensions.
  3. Reset Chrome to its default settings. To do this, go to Chrome Menu > Settings > Advanced > Reset and clean up > Reset settings to their original defaults

If the problem still persists, try testing the casting using Google Canary and see if the same issues occur.

Best regards,

Jeran
