volume control from chromecast to monitor

When I cast from my Chromebook to my monitor it seems that I have no way to control the volume.  The monitor has no volume control.  Google Home is apparently not compatible with the Chromebook OS.  If I buy the Chromecast with Google TV I understand it comes with a remote.  Can that remote control the volume that is being cast to the monitor, the way the Google Home App would if it worked on Chromebook?  Or does it only control the volume by adjusting the TV volume which would not work on my monitor?  Or is there some other way to control the volume?

That is definitely odd , do you have another android device to test this on? Ie an android phone ?  If so, try casting to the monitor from that device and see if you get the same error, if so I suspect the Chromecast needs to be reset , if it works then the Google home app on your Chromebook needs to be reinstalled or reset.

It can control the volume of the device if you set it up that way, or adjust the Chromecast volume.

Hey there,

Did you have any more questions or need any additional help? If not, I'll go ahead and lock up this thread in 24 hours.

Just checking up,

Jeran

I had asked two questions regarding the inability of Chromecas in Chromebook to control the volume output to a monitor that does not have its own volume control.

(1)One question was whether if I bought the new Chromecast with remote control that could control the volume. I received a response saying that it would.

(2) The second question was whether there was any way for the chromebook to control the volume. Nobody answered that question.

Sorry if I wasn't clear in my answer.

Yes , a Chromebook can control the volume of casting by going into the Google home app, click media , it will shows what's currently casting, and has a volume slider that you can adjust.

When I open Google Home in my Chromebook it says that it cannot connect to the chromecast device  It says this even though the Chromebook is successfully casting to the device.

My Android device connected successfully so I uninstalled Home and reinstalled it. Now it works!  thanks.
