Can't connect Geeni

Mariel
Community Member

Ok, I'm about wits ends with Google Home and Geeni.  Aside from my daily fight with Google because lately can't understand what I am saying after 4yrs. Now in the last month it has deleted all my Geeni lights twice.  Today I can't connect at all after several attempts. All it says is, Humm, something went wrong. 🙄 Like that is going to help. Please help. Thanks.

Hey folks,

Thanks for bringing this up. I know how annoying it is if something is not working on your devices especially when it comes to controlling your Geeni smart devices.

This seems to be related to the recent outage that happened with Geeni but should be resolved now. Please don't forget to refresh your device by rebooting it. If you still have the same issue, please do not hesitate to reply on this thread, and we're glad to assist you further.

Cheers,

Muddi

I'm in the same boat! All my Geeni devices unlinked today. Tried undoing and readding, linking and unlinking. Geeni app works fine. Seems like Google Home and Geeni stopped playing nice for some reason. Super frustrating. When I check Geeni on Google Home, it constantly asks me to relink my account and nothing happens.

Update...After a few hours and without warning, the lights are back like nothing ever happened!

I should have waited.. I nuked my rooms in Google Home, and unlinked the geeni account.   All my destruction to rebuild this Eff Up, when the issue would have resolved.   How about a way to tell us when things are broken Google?   Or would that uncover how often things aren't working properly on a platform we really can't control.

Yeah...a lil heads up.like a default diagnostic...like geeni is not talking to me.

Cync is off the grid today...roku just left the room/home...sumthin'!

Mine says something went wrong as well. I have also tried unlinking and delinking with no luck. Geeni works fine but google app and voice control does nothing.

20 plus Merkury bulbs in my setup and none working properly today.   This whole linking thru 3rd party app stuff may be needed to make it work, but jeepers does it look like a wasteland of apps and opportunities for a failed link in the chain........and makes me wonder when my tech I bought will be rendered inoperable or left for dead when someone changes code somewhere.

Same here...Geeni app working as expected. Google home assistant NOT working AS EXPECTED.

Wished i had half my money back...I'd be out of the Google realm once and for all...ugh.

You helped me want to rant 🙂  I only stay in the google game to keep my tech skills sharper 🙂   Just dumped Google Fi.. that was a dumpster fire of an experience.. could have been so awesome too.   I used to have an Alexa setup, but decided a dozen Google speakers, and about 35 devices should be easy to manage in a smarthome solution from Google. The experience is decent much of the time, but changes so frequently, and I troubleshoot to no end.. with ghost-like fixes that sometimes resolve if I wait.   My routine has become.. reboot router.. reboot cable modem, power cycle all lights.  Remove lights from 3rd party app.. re-add to 3rd party app.. re link 3rd party app.. unlink 3rd party app..   Cycle power to a dozen google speakers.... why?  cuz they're part of it right?    How does one simply restart a dozen  speakers in the home app without 200 clicks?  .. well a developer probably doesn't have a dozen speakers.. so they never thought about it being easy.....    I was just pleasantly surprised that the geniuses at Google got my nest cameras to stream to my Google TV platform... that didn't work out of the box?!?!   How about having people manage and develop these products who actually use them?   And.. my friend.. I'll call you Googs... short for Google... or maybe Alphie..for Alphabet........ if it all is so hard to make work.. then stop selling the trash and focus on ad revenue 🙂  Amatt14.. sorry I didn't mean to vent my gassyness so close to your post 🙂

Bruh...same here. I've spent so much on these"works with your assistant " devices!

My GF rolls her eyes so much at me...just because all the time it takes to set them...then after a couple of hours she like...don't reboot this yet,I'm in the middle of a show/work/etc...

I'm out on anything new to add. They are just listening to us and earning big bucks with their analytics. Ugh. SMH!

Mine is all working again.   The process of setting everything to defaults and starting over as part of troubleshooting becomes tedious.   (Do that with 40 or so devices every time things start acting up and tell me you want to deal with "Smart home technology" anymore.)  It would be nice to be told that there is a problem vs.  guessing that something on my end is a problem.    A note in the app?  An email?

Someone knew there was an issue somewhere, but everyone prays it will self resolve before customers notice.   I know the game, just step it up and tell the tech nerds who try to use this tripe that you know something is whack.

Much frustrated love to anyone who can make a real decision on this stuff and help us out.

My Geeni light is also not working with my Google. Voice command just says "sorry, something went wrong" and the app still says it's connected but won't let me control it. Geeni app working fine on its own. Tried unlinking and relinking, and also uninstalling and reinstalling Geeni. Nothing.
