Cancel planned event

If I do the command "Turn off Garage in 30 minutes", it works great. But, is there a command that I can use before the 30 minutes is up to cancel that future command? I've tried "cancel all timers", but that tells me I have no timers running. Any ideas?

Hi BryanMohr,

Thanks for reaching out. What are the devices in your garage? You can try "Cancel garage timer". You can also check the steps below to see your timers using the Google Home app:

  1. Make sure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi network or linked to the same account as your speaker or display.
  2. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  3. Tap Favorites or Devices .
  4. Tap and hold your device's tile.
  5. Tap Settings and then Audio and then Alarms & Timers.

Keep me posted.

Regards,

Juni

Thanks. I tried that but nothing was canceled even though Google responded and said it had been. "Garage" is the room name so when I do the "Turn on Garage" command, it turns on 5 devices that are in the garage. I guess I'll try canceling timers for all 5 devices instead.

It did not work. After the "Turn on garage" command, I issued "Cancel timer for garage light 1". Google replied saying that it was cancelling all timers and alarms (as usual), but after 30 minutes, Garage Light 1 turned off with all of the other devices in the garage. So yeah, that failed.

Also, there is no "Audio" listed under the settings for the 5 devices (1 light and 4 plugs).

Hello BryanMohr,

Thanks for the details you’ve shared. Canceling the timer on just one device after you create a timer for a group is not available. This goes to the “Audio” option that you mentioned too.  I'd suggest you submit feedback about it. See the article below on how to do it.

Well, I want to cancel the timer for the group. But that doesn't work either.

Hello there,

Understood. What Nest speaker or display do you own? Are you getting the same message when you use your phone’s Google Assistant? Let’s try to refresh your devices and observe if it makes a difference. First, reboot your Wi-Fi router, and once the network is back up, do the same thing to your Nest speakers and lights. Let us know the result by updating this thread.

Best,

Juni

There isn't an error message. If I say "Turn off Garage in 30 minutes", it responds correctly (whether it's on my Pixel 7, Home Mini or Display, the result is the same). Then 5 minutes later I say "Cancel Garage timer", it responds with "I'm stopping any alarms and timers that are ringing". Nothing actually happens and the 30 minutes command continues as if nothing was mentioned. I'm not sure what resetting the network would accomplish as this is not a network issue. I have reset them anyway (even though I am an IT/Network Engineer by trade, with over 30 years of experience, so had very serious doubts this would accomplish anything) and nothing changed,

Thanks. But after working on this for a month with no positive results, I'm giving up on it. Google just won't do what I want it to do.

I am sorry but his demand was pretty clear.  I have the same concern and I can't find the answer nowhere.  In order to understand what was his problem and mine in the mean time...

why don't you ask google to turn on a very loud general alarm on all your connected device at 2 in the morning every day (just for the drama, you can ask for a simple light also)  and try to cancel this demand.  Then come back here and explain how it can be done.

Best regards
