Chromecast not able to connect

My Chromecast stopped working earlier today and hasn't been able to connect since. I've tried all of the troubleshooting tips, but nothing has helped. I've been trying to contact Google Support all day, but the phone calls keep disconnecting on me and I'm 246 in line for chat support.

I am having the same issue, since probably about 7, have tried everything I can possibly think of. It says I need to have local network enabled, I do. I also found that it says 'they both need to be connected to same WiFi' (phone/CC?) and they are. Also noted that after expanding info on the device/connection, it says under 'HOME' Chromecast (my name for it) its not highlighted and I don't have permissions. I went there to check firmware and have the latest update from the end of February 2025. So I'm out of answers, frozen out of my chromecast, but not my other devices. It's not a WiFi issue (same Home network) I've reset, factory reset CC, reset router, hard rebooted phone. Nada.

hope somebody gives a solution to fix it.  mine was working just fine this morning.

There appears to be a 'fix'  or workarounds, but it's/they are way over my head. A good thread on Reddit. One person said there was a fix on Google, but darned if I can find it, I'm lucky to have found THIS place tbh! Here's that link. Google is aware of it, it's a small matter of a date in code somewhere w/ authentications? My take, our devices are being ghosted because they quit being recognized after a certain time 9 March 2025-oopsie. It's the Gen 2 devices. Should be fixed-how soon, your guess as good as mine? The brains on Reddit said could be a week? Maybe more for iOS users (me 😕 ) They aren't obsolete, it just appears it was a shortsighted thing or an oversight? Nothing to do with updates. <<shrug>>

I had the same thing happen to me today. I wonder if it's a Google Server somewhere that needs a Size 12 restart.

I need help. No idea why it’s not connecting. It was fine this morning. Recognizes everything, but the last step not connecting to tv. I tried everything. Pl help

Yup. EXACTLY what happened to me. Perhaps a Google problem? I would hate to imagine that my Chromecast device has been declared obsolete with nobody telling me in advance.

Honestly, this is a huge glitch, whether by design or not, it's not a normal thing-nor is it a happenstance imo. Not with the permission deal. I think it is an AI bug somewhere that has flipped all of them off tbh. With it happening all over the world like this, it's way too sketch. Someone messed up code, or AI had a few too many mimosas while feeling a little too human.

It's fixable, a bit of 'code' a date, they know, am sure they are and have been working on it-especially since they still have Gen 2's on the shelf to sell. It may be a short spell though, time wise. 😕  I'm looking at it as an opportunity lol to do spring cleaning early. 😉 I linked a thread from Reddit above  to Lr5, that does have 'fixes'/workarounds-says there's one here on Google somewhere but I can't find it, and it's all over my head, so I will be waiting.

Or you could just use Google Translate. It reads "I have the same problem. I tried everything and nothing! I need help
