Chromecast support

Is google shutting down Chromecast support? I can barley get any device to work anymore. I can't even find the device information. The Home app took it away or buried it deep. Chromecast Audio can only say "Please try again later". All very frustrating.

Support for Chromecast (1st gen) has ended, which means that specific model no longer receives software or security updates, and Google does not provide technical support for it. All other models of Chromecast are still actively supported.

What model of Chromecast do you have because Chromecast Audio isn't voice activated? I'll link below the support pages to help you work that out.

Device information in the Home app can be found by tapping the Devices tab at the bottom, then tap and hold on the device, then tap the settings cog at the top right.

The settings cog icon doesn't show up until the device is added to a Room. That was part of the problem. Why does it have to be added to a Room to see the device information?

The Chromecast Audio doesn't play half the songs I request. It tells me to ".... Please try again later.", skips the songs, or just hangs up. Cast Firmware 1.56.281627.

That's part of how that feature works it seems.

Is it perhaps a Google Home or Google Nest speaker you have, as those are voice activated? Chromecast Audio is not and needs you to cast content to it from a cast-supported app.

What music service are you trying to get content from?

I know the Chromecast Audio is not voice activated. I cast music to it from YouTube music on my Android phone. It can't play the songs. It tells me to keep trying later or skips the song.

Is your phone connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Chromecast Audio?

You can see your Chromecast Audio in the Google Home app?

Does it only do this with the YouTube Music app, or with other apps as well?

Is it one particular song, or any song you seem to cast?

Are you using the latest version of the YouTube Music app and a recent version of Android?

Do you have another phone or tablet you can test with? If so, does that have the same issue?
