Compatible Bulb for Nest that works with gentle wake up

rehanrefai

I've used the gentle wake feature for years, however my sengled bulbs and the hub are having issues and I'll need to replace them.

I've tried a lot of smart bulbs that don't seem to work right with gentle wake

  1. Cync by GE - turns on but doesn't gently brighten. However "wake my lights" makes the lights gently brighten as it should with gentle wake up
  2. Linkind - doesn't turn on
  3. Wiz - turns on but doesn't brighten
  4. Feit - doesn't turn on

What bulbs are compatible? The help section says that any connected light should work - but that is very obviously not the case.

LIFX work great. Sets to 1% before turning on.

Tuya does not turn on, but with an Automation you can achieve the same effect with a "Wake-up the Light for X minutes" custom action.

I used a "Set the light to 1%" before adding the "Turn on the Light" and then "Wake-up the Light for 10 minutes"

Hi @rehanrefai

Thank you so much for contacting this community! I understand you've been having issues with your four smart bulbs not working properly with the soft on feature, and I appreciate that you've taken the time to investigate that all your smart bulbs should work with this feature. Don't worry, I'm here to help!

In order to give you the most accurate troubleshooting steps, I'd like to ask you a few questions.

  • What is the make and model of the phone you used to test the smart bulbs?
  • What is the version number of the Google Home app?
  • Did you try using a voice command other than "wake my lights"?
  • Did you create a schedule for activation? (For example, "Wake my lights at 7 AM")

In the meantime, I'd like you to try some troubleshooting steps that might help:

  • Make sure your mobile device, your Google Home device, and your smart light bulbs are all on the same Wi-Fi network.

  • Make sure your mobile device and your Google Home device are linked to the same Google Account.

  • Say the voice command, “Hey Google, sync all devices."

  • Make sure your light bulbs are linked in the Google Home app.

  • Remove the smart lights and add them back to the Google Home app.

@SmartHomeH-TAGS, thanks for those recommendations about the automations and smart lights!
