Gentle wake brightness

Montbarron
Community Member

Recently it seems gentle awake is only brightening by bedroom lights to 3%. I may be wrong but I'm sure that they were getting brighter before. Anyone have any ideas? Is there a setting I need to change or is the feature broken?

No ideas here, I'm here for the same issue. Ours won't go beyond 1% and I miss the full wake capability it used to have.

Hi,

Which bulbs are you using?

Hi Jill, we use TP-LINK light bulbs in case it's helpful information. 😊

This seems to be an emerging issue and I'll escalate it over to the Community team at Nest.

@JillG please take note that it’s not just the gentle wake function.

The “get spooky” and “I feel like a fish in the ocean no longer work either.

My lights have always been exposed through openHAB and they used to do the “fish” command fine, but it’s been quite a while since it stopped doing it.

No doesn't seem to work still. Just checked this morning. The lights didn't even come on till after I stopped the alarm. I've tried restarting all devices and disconnecting and reconnecting the accounts associated with the devices, still no luck.

Mine seems to be working fine at this point, it has been for at least 6 weeks or so? I didn't do anything to fix it after initial resets that didn't work.

Hi folks,

@Acarp1890, that's great news. I was hoping to know what steps you took but as you've mentioned it worked on its own. Thank you for your patience.

@Montbarron, how are we doing with your Google Home and your Smart lights? May we know what lights are you using and what app are they linked to? It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first:

  1. Unplug the power cord of your router followed by your Nest speakers.
  2. Unplug your Smart Lights either bulbs or plugs.
  3. Plug them back in after 5 minutes tops. Restarting your phone might also help.

Keep us posted.

Regards,

Dan
