Google Alarm Routines Doesn't Show Home Devices

DonnieE

When setting up routines using Google Clock (alarms), I can't select my home devices.  The option is there, but the page is blank.  How do I correct this?

Hi DonnieE,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community.

I know how it feels when something isn’t working as it should, let’s get this resolved. A few things: What is the make and model of the mobile phone that you are using for your Google Home app? Was this working before? Which Nest speakers? What steps have you tried so far?

You can reboot your Nest speaker, mobile phone and WiFi router to refresh the devices and WiFi signal. If that did not work, uninstall and reinstall the Google Home app, then set up your routine again.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

Juni

Hi Juni.

I am currently using a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4, and it was working before.  And, just to clarify, it's not the speakers but any device that should be listed under Adjust Home Devices when setting up routines in the Alarm portion of the Google Clock app.  I have a Nest Thermostat, several Lutron light switches, and outlet controls that do not appear.  In fact, nothing appears under that selection.  I can provide screen shots 8f that helps.

Thanks

I'm having the same issue with a Samsung S10e.

I found a workaround. I choose the action in the "Suggested actions" at the bottom of the page, this way it works. If I use the "Add action" button, it doesn't work.

HI folks,

@Rubans, thanks for the sharing this.

@DonnieE, thanks for the response. Have you tried the step provided by Rubans? If that did not work, could you send us a screenshot showing it? Below are the steps on how to upload a photo or video:

  1. Start a new post.
  2. Click Insert Image.
  3. Choose an image source location.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions

Also, you can tap the "Drag and Drop" option. Maximum attachment is 5 MB.

Thanks,

Juni

Hi Juni,

I did try what Rubans suggested and that seems to be a good workaround.  I'd still like for the actual setting to work though as those options my not always appear in the suggested.

I did try to attach a screen shot to the original post, but did not see the option.

Hi there,

Thanks for the image. You can clear the cache and storage of the Google Home app on your phone, then observe if this will make a difference. If that did not fix it you can uninstall and reinstall your Google Home app.

Let me know how it goes.

Best,

Juni

Would I clear the cache for the Google hoke app or the Alarm?  I can still use this feature when creating a routine in in home, just not when doing so through the Google clock/ alarm app

Hi DonnieE,

Thanks for the response and I'm sorry for the confusion. I meant to clear the cache on the Google Home app from your phone’s app settings. Also, when you say "Google clock/ alarm app" do you mean the Google Home app? If not, can you send a screenshot of this app's main interface?

Keep me posted.

Thanks,

Juni

Hello guys

The App is Google Clock, which allows you to set up a home routine with an alarm on your cellphone. Screenshots below.
