Why can’t I change my thermostat to heat mode

Make sure whoever installed the new furnace connected the correct wiring that goes to the thermostat. If it was installed correctly, try resetting the nest thermostat directly and follow the prompts for the heater. Let me know if that works.

Are you sure your AC has a heater, or that a seperate heater is connected to the thermostat? Could you control the heat before installing the nest?

Yes. We live in Michigan. We have an AC unit outside and a heater on the inside of the home. We had a new furnace installed recently. We got the nest for Christmas last year and we had no problem running the heat last winter.

Thank you. That was the problem. One wire was not connected all the way.

No problem, Youtube is a great resource for hands on problem solving. I am glad you were able to solve the issue.

Hi folks,

I'm sorry for the late reply, and I wanted to stop by and ensure that everything is good to go.

It appears that everyone was able to figure it out, and I hope that it's working smoothly. Please let us know if you all have additional questions or concerns, as we will be locking this thread in 24 hours.

Best regards,

Mark

After watching a you tube video, I realized I did not have one of the wires all the way connected.
