Home and Away routine

I do not have a “set up a home and away routine” option. Someone else was helped with this by getting Alexa. I don’t want this solution.

Hi,

If you don't have the option to set up a home and away routine in the Google Home app, it may be because this feature is not available in your region or because your device is not compatible. However, there are a few other options you can try:

  1. Use the Google Assistant: You can set up a routine using the Google Assistant on your phone or tablet. To do this, open the Google Assistant app and go to "Explore" > "Routines" > "Add a routine". Here, you can set up actions for when you leave and return home.

  2. Use a third-party app: There are many third-party apps available that can help you set up routines and automations for your smart home devices. Some popular options include IFTTT, Stringify, and SmartThings.

  3. Use a different device: If you don't want to use Alexa, you can try using a different smart speaker or assistant, such as Siri on an iPhone or iPad, or a smart speaker that supports routines, such as the Amazon Echo or Google Nest Hub.

If none of these options work for you, you can try contacting Google support for further assistance. They should be able to help you determine why the home and away routine option is not available in your app and provide additional support.

@Janelle, please answer the following: what country are you from? What Google Home devices do you have? Was the Home and Away routine working before?

There are several reasons why the Home and Away routine is not showing as an option on your Google Home app, as mdshoaibkhan said. As a workaround, try changing your Assistant language to English (USA) then uninstalling and reinstalling your Google Home app before checking if that feature already appears as an option. Check out this support website for more information.
