How does YouTube TV not have a partner link to Nest.

I don't understand how Goggle's own streaming product is less connected to Nest than other services.

I would have thought it would be very easy to:

Present my streaming tv service(s) and then

Hey Google:

  • "Play {TV Show Name} on tv"
  • "Play {TV Show Name} from my library"
  • "Move TV show to {another} tv/display"
  • "Play {TV Show} on ALL displays"
  • "Play {TV Show} on Living Room TV and Kitchen display"
  • "Skip ahead {X amount of time}"
  • "Rewind {X amount of time}"

Hi AndrewDHokie,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community.

This is not the experience that we wanted you to have, let me help you out. Are you using the email address that has your YouTube TV subscription in your Google Home app? Once you set up your Nest speaker or Chromecast in the Google Home app this should be linked automatically. Is this the case in your end? If not, you can add the account in your Google Home app that has the YouTube TV subscription then set up your devices using that account. Check the steps below.

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. At the top right, tap the account profile (the customer's profile photo or initial).
  3. Verify that the Google Account shown is the one linked to the Google Home or Google Nest device. To switch accounts, tap the drop-down menu pic of downward-pointing carrotand then select another account or Add another account.

Keep me posted.

Thanks,

Juni

Thanks for the response.

Sometimes:

  • "Play {TV Show Name} on tv"
  • "Play {TV Show Name} from my library"

Will work.

None of the other commands have ever worked.

I have everything set to my primary google account.  I have a "primary tv" set for each device.

Hi  AndrewDHokie,

Thanks for the details you provided. We’d be happy to look into this for you. A few things: Are you doing the commands from your Next speaker to your Chromecast? If so, which Nest speaker and Chromecast device? What steps have you tried so far? You can do a sequential reboot. First, unplug your Nest speakers/ displays and Chromecast for 30 seconds, then do the same thing on your Wi-Fi router to refresh both devices and your Wi-Fi signal.

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

Juni
