I got rid of an old tv that was connected to my home app but the app says it is paused and I tried deleting it but it says I can’t because it isn’t connected to WiFi and try to put on the same WiFi and try again but i don’t have the tv anymore and every time I tell Google to play or pause something it always says pausing the old tv I have instead of the device in the same room even though the old just says it’s linked to me not in the room how do I get rid of this old tv from my account so I can use my assistant properly again

Hi Aden,

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble removing an old TV device that was connected to your Google Home app. I understand how frustrating it must be to delete the device, only to be told you can't because it isn't connected to WiFi. Thank you for providing important details, such as the fact that you no longer have the TV and the troubleshooting steps you've tried so far. No worries, help is here.

Before I start further troubleshooting, let me ask you a few questions:

In the meantime, I recommend you follow the steps:

  1. Open your Google Home app.
  2. Select your profile icon, then select “Manage your account.”
  3. Select Security.
  4. Scroll down to your devices.
  5. Select “Manage all devices.”
  6. Select the old TV that you want to sign out from, and it will remove it.

Thanks for your kind attention. I will be looking forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,

Virna

Hi Aden,

Thanks for keeping me posted. I’m sorry to hear that after trying the troubleshooting steps provided, the old TV remains in your Google Home app. But no worries, let’s continue working together to resolve this inconvenience.

Please try the following steps:

  1. Remove the Google Home app from your mobile device.
  2. Restart your mobile device.
  3. Install the latest version of the Google Home app on your mobile device.
  4. Check if the old TV was already removed.

If the inconvenience persists, try to unlink the old TV following any of these options:

Option 1:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap “Devices.”
  3. Touch and hold the old TV.
  4. Select “Settings” (the gear icon).
  5. Scroll down and tap “Unlink.”

Option 2

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap the profile icon.
  3. Select “Assistant settings.”
  4. Tap on “Devices.”
  5. Select the old TV.
  6. Tap “Remove device” or “Unlink this device.”

Close the Google Home app and wait a few hours to check if the old TV has already been removed, but if you continue seeing the old TV on your Google Home app, I recommend you delete the associated “Room” or “Home” structure with the old TV and create a new one to add only the devices you want to control with the Google Home app. Please follow these instructions:

  1. To delete a home:
    1. Open the Google Home app.
    2. If you have more than one home, tap “Favorites.”
    3. At the top, tap the down arrow and select the home you want to delete.
    4. Tap “Settings.”
    5. Scroll to the bottom, then select the option “Delete this home.”
    6. Tap “Delete home.”
  2. To delete a room:
    1. Open the Google Home app.
    2. If you have more than one home, tap “Favorites.”
    3. At the top, select the home with the room you want to delete.
    4. Tap “Settings.”
    5. Then select “Devices, groups & rooms.”
    6. Tap the name of the room you want to delete.
    7. Tap “Delete room.”
  3. To create a home:
    1. Open the Google Home app.
    2. Tap “Settings,” then select the option “Add” (the plus icon).
    3. Select “Home.”
    4. Follow the on-screen instructions.
  4. To create a room:
    1. Open the Google Home app.
    2. Tap “Favorites” or “Devices.”
    3. Select the devices you want to add.
    4. Tap “Settings,” then “Device Information,” then “Placement.”
    5. Select the suggested room name or scroll to the bottom.
    6. Tap “Add a custom room.”

Please let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Virna

Option one doesn’t work just stays on the same screen option two doesn’t exist on my device. It just has personal results option. The third option doesn’t exist because that TV was already removed from the house and I deleted the house shortly after to make a new house in the app with an I can’t move the device to another house without a Internet connection so it doesn’t work and when I try to unlink the device like I said earlier, it actually popped up with the pop-up message saying it’s not connected to the same Internet Connection and won’t go away
