IR heaters + ASHP + NEST

xanld

I have a nest thermostat with an ASHP for heating and hot water. I have very few radiators downstairs. I'm wondering whether to add more radiators, or to add infra red heaters and have a mixed system.

Can I run both ASHP driven radiators and IR red heater panels from the same nest thermostat? Perhaps 2 zones?

Any recommendations on IR panels welcome.

Thanks.

Hi there @xanld.

Thanks for reaching out and thanks for the details. The only way in which you could create zoned heating with the devices you have would be to have one thermostat per each zone. Let me know if you have more questions.

Hi, I wanted to check in. Do you need any further assistance? If so, make sure to let me know.

Additionally here is a link with information on how our thermostat works with a zoned system: https://bit.ly/2MdF3n7

Lastly, generally our thermostat is not compatible with electrical heating systems as they require a large amount of power. The Heat Link is only able to handle systems that don't use no more than 3 amps. You can find out more about what systems it is compatible with here: https://bit.ly/3w6g4Xf .

Thanks, so zoned was just an idea. It doesn't have to be zoned. Just one thermostat controlling both systems simultaneously would be fine. But I can see that two bests with two independent systems would also work. That said, perhaps the IR radiators come with their own networked schedulers and stats, so maybe that's the answer.
