Nest hub plays sound when muted

Well, lets start with the labels I have to populate to start this post. None of them work. The issue is with the device but seems that can't be possible and, certainly acknowledged given it's not an option.

I was a big Nest user, almost a fan but google destroyed it. I have a number of issues

Firstly, and the one per subject is that when I am viewing any cameras through the hub, despite the volume being down to mute, I still hear sound. That is a huge frustration. I do not want to hear the wind/traffic from the doorbell camera as on conference calls others hear it yet sounds still plays. It's not just the doorbell camera, it's all of them.

That is the issue I want someone to help with (I do not want to disable the microphone on the cameras, I want the hub to just not play it)

Second issue

Using the Google home app in iOS is horrible if you select to have a preview of all the cameras. The images wont show, it will be noted the camera is offline when it isn't. If you try to access a camera from this screen it just hangs and you get the beautiful spinning wheel. Problem here is that I am not hypnotized by it, I am frustrated. On the flip side, if I force close the app and just go to a specific camera it seems to work. That isn't what I want, there is a preview of all cameras so why doesn't  that work. Please note this isn't a WiFi issue I don't believe. Internet (both upload and download are great). Even if not using WiFi and on 5g it is a problem.

Final issue, Outdoor cameras. Why do they last about 13 months. Horrible quality and I am sick of it. Water ingress when they are outdoor rated and always just out of warranty isn't acceptable.

Either way - please help me fix the first point, that is what I came here for (but if you have ideas on the rest I am open to hear it)

Hi Sparkpj,

Thanks for reaching out. Sorry for the late reply. Have you tried rebooting your Nest Hub to refresh the device? On the Google Home app concern you can try to uninstall and reinstall the app and observe if it will make a difference.

Keep me posted.

Regards,

Juni
