Does installing the new Google Home app require re-installation of existing devices?

If you're already using the Google Home app, and are installing an update to it, then no.

If you're not currently using the Google Home app, and only have the Google Nest app, if you're already signed into the Nest app with a Google account, your Nest camera and some other products in your Nest home should also appear in your home in the Home app.

Hey there,

Thanks for the assistance davidking.

Dave11 If your referring to your smart devices, you don't need to re-install them. You can link your smart home account to your Google Home app is you're planning to control them using any Google Home or Google Nest speakers and displays. You can check this guide for more information.

Best,

Alex

Hey Dave11,

Hoping the guide helps as I'll be locking this thread if we won't hear back from you again in 24 hrs. Should that happen, feel free to create a new one if you have more questions or have other concerns in the future

Kind regards,
