No Support for Nest Protect????

Just read in the public preview that it will not support "older" Nest Devices like the Nest Protect... WTF?? These expensive AF Smoke Alarms have a 10 year life span... How are you not going to support them? Google is getting worse and worse by the day. I have spent so much money outfitting my house in Google for it to not only be "outdated", but flat out unsupported? And they're still for sale on the website... Please fix this.

Same! It is so upsetting that the still very capable smart home devices like the Protects and Secures aren't supported even though it doesn't seem like a huge problem to integrate them. We have all bought incredible expensive devices expecting them to be supported for years and years, just to be betrayed... Unacceptable.

Bumping this. I spent over a $1k outfitting my home with Nest Protect throughout. Countless others have done the same; and now they are throwing us under the bus. What the heck?

Beyond frustrating. I hope they mean it's only not supported currently, but will be when the app is available to the public.

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community. I understand your thoughts about our support for Nest Protect. However, the Public Preview article says "The re-designed Google Home app does not support a number of older devices (ex: Nest Protect) from the Nest app.", which is not applicable now with the current Google Home app. It's referring to the access with the app but it can still be controlled with the Nest app. See more information here.

So if I understand you correctly, the Nest Protect devices will continue to function, but must be set up and monitored through the Nest app, and there are no plans to make them visible or configurable in the Google Home app. Is that correct?

While we don't have any news if it will be available in the future, configuring Nest Protect is not available in the Google Home app. We appreciate users who are keen on sharing with us their thoughts/experience — we'll take this as feedback.
